The necessity to eat out at lunchtime does not mean that you have to throw away your dieting efforts. Although most fat food is not good for your health, there are some good healthy foods available. Since most people eat lunch every day and are active because they are at work, some people make poor choices thinking they can burn off the calories the rest of the day. Establish some good eating habits that you follow no matter when and where you eat.
Eat a Nutritional lunch
Weight Management Supplements
The following are ways to have a good nutritional lunch that is not loaded with calories. If you must choose fast food, stay away from fried foods including burgers, chicken and fries. The following are some healthy choices:
Roast Beef on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and onion. Ask for low calorie mayonnaise or mustard which is very low in calories.
Grilled chicken is always a good choice. Enjoy this with a healthy side salad and use vinegar based dressing instead of any creamy kind. They pack on the calories.
Roasted chicken with whole grain pasta and a bean salad is always a good choice. This meal is high in protein and fiber and low in fat.
Grilled or baked fish is most beneficial. Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids. Have this with a side of steamed vegetables.
Low-fat milk products like yogurt or low fat cheese are good choices. An alternative is to have cheese on whole wheat crackers for lunch with the yogurt for dessert. Most of us do not consume the recommended allowance of 2 to 4 servings per day from dairy products.
Soup is always a good choice for lunch. Choose the ones that are high in fiber like split pea or lentil soup. Add a small salad to complete your lunch.
Drink Healthy
The following are healthy alternatives to sweetened beverages such as sodas or power drinks.
Vegetable juice has around half the calories of fruit juice and provides more nutritional benefits. An eight ounce drink can serve as one portion of the 2 to d serving recommended daily allowance. One good vegetable drink is tomato or V8.
If you drink fruit juice, make sure that it is 100% fruit juice with no added sugar.
Green tea is an excellent choice since it is known to help the body burn more calories and is loaded with antioxidants. Make sure no sugar is added. This may take getting used to but the reduction in calories is well worth it.
Water is always a good choice. Drinking water before and during your meal make you feel fuller. In anticipation of this fullness, order a smaller size entrée.
There are good choices to be made if you are aware of the foods that do not contain artificial ingredients such as burgers or foods that include gobs or cheese or even creamy salad dressing.
Whether you prepare your food at home or eat out every day, always eat a nutritional low calorie lunch. Your waist will thank you.
